Definitely coming back! Not a "luxury RV Resort" but has everything you need. Water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric. Free bus at the registration office to go anywhere on the south rim or into Tusayan. Staff is very helpful and polite. Bus drivers kind, patient, and informative about the stops. You MUST have reservations as it fills rapidly, but you can do that online. If you RV, this is a must for your Bucket List.
Best spot to stay if you want full hookup in the south rim of Grand Canyon. Call in advance to make reservations if going during a busy time (spring break, summer). We saw a baby elk on the edge of the campground!
We got a little confused on check-in. There was a little shack at the entrance, but no sign that said "check-in", so we drove right by and went the wrong direction in the park. But maybe that's just us being newbies. The park is decent looking. Plenty of shade trees, pretty good spacing between sites, and they're at an angle from each other, so a little more privacy that way (but not much privacy at all). No fires allowed, so just a BBQ grill and picnic table in the sites. Sites are asphalt, and most appeared to be leaning to the left, but not too bad. Everything worked fine. Bathroom was okay. There were no trash cans in sight, which was pretty inconvenient. There are mule deer or elk that wander through the campground, which was really cool. Overall, the best thing about this place was the location. It's close to the rim, and you can get on the main bike trail that goes all through the village and to the rim right from the campground. There's also a bus that stops at the campground and runs until pretty late. It's definitely part of the action and made the stay feel very effortless. We never had to drive our car once, which is a huge plus when visiting a place like this.
This review and these photos are from February 26 through March 2, 2017.This is a really nice place, full hook ups, extremely well-maintained. The day we got there we had a snowstorm through the day and night. They were out the next morning, around 7:20 a.m. plowing the roads for everyone. Employees are really nice. Park is located very close to the Canyon. You can catch shuttle buses by the registration office and go pretty much anywhere on the south rim and into Tusayan. Note, shuttle bus drivers were extremely polite, helpful and nice, can't emphasize that enough because I was shocked. A Market, deli and post office are literally one minute driving or a few minutes walking distance. Cannot wait to go back.
Gorgeous. However they advertise limited wifi but it is significantly less than limited. While we didn't expect to stream, we couldn't make or receive cell calls or access their own website to check hours for the grocery store or lodge restaurants, much less check email (which we needed since this was a work and play trip).
