- New shower hours are 0600am to 10pm(2200). 8 quarters gets you 8 minutes of a hot water shower.
- Restroom facilities and water spigots are evenly placed throughout the park and are never more than a 5 minute walk away (in keeping with the shower facility these areas are also clean)
Cheap and quiet! Walking distance to the Grand Canyon. Ease of reservation and check in. Campfires are allowed if you have pre bought firewood. Would definitely reserve again in the future.
This would be 4.5 stars, if I could. We had a great time here over 3 nights.
All in all a wonderful place that is a short car or bike ride from the rim, general store, or visitor center. The Rangers are friendly and expedient and the campground is well maintained and quiet. Loved it!
Great place. They have adequate space to put tents, sometimes two tents. Provide for a large picnic bench and a table and a place where you can light your fire and cook. The car parks right next to your tent so I thought that was awesome. The place was clean and the toilets were awesome. Very good value for money.
I didn't use the showers as they were way at the entrance of the campground and I was staying with family the next night where I could shower for free. I would definitely stay here again during my next visit to the Grand Canyon. You can't beat the convenience of staying in the village. But, there are some brave ravens that will visit your campsite looking for treats!
Very reasonably priced at $18/night
Cons:
Clean showers that aren't too expensive at $2 for 8 min. of hot water
Fairly easy walking distance to the rim, general store, restaurant, visitor center, etc.
Pros:
My wife and I camped here September 21-23 2017 (spot 129) Easy check-in at the front gate and easy checkout as well! The ground was flat for our tent, picnic table and surrounding grounds clean, fire pit was empty, and more than adequate tree cover as well!
Most of the tent pads are at least a little uneven. They're not too bad, but there's good odds you'll be at least at a bit of an angle.
Plenty of trees for shade and hanging hammocks, clotheslines, etc.
Clean, well-stocked bathrooms with flush toilets.
Nearby general store is incredibly well stocked and most items are more reasonably priced than I expected (although they'll gouge on a few items, like batteries)
- The laundry and shower facilities were remarkably clean considering the number's this campground goes through on a daily basis.
Only stayed one night in November 2017. It's a little hard to find driving the labyrinth of road in the village. But worth the search. Super nice campground with lots of space between sites. I think the sites on both sides of me were booked, but I could barely hear anything. Bathrooms were clean and they had a little dish washing sink on the outside of the bathroom building - would have been nice if there was a counter to put dishes on and if they had hot water.
- Most tent camping spots have parking for 2-3 vehicles
Ground takes stakes well and holds them firmly.
The campsites are all fair-sized, but are still right on top of each other. This is pretty normal for a national park drive-in campground, so don't expect any privacy.
Large laundromat.
No recycling in the campground, only trash.
