The guy working the kennel when we dropped off and picked up our pit bull was, as expected, an animal lover. Got along great with our dog, and we felt fine leaving our dog with him during our 10 hour hike.
Dogs are not welcome in the canyon! We did not know that, but luckily this kennel saved us. A quiet place in the nature. Big cage for the dogs, with access to its own yard. Karin who is working there is very nice and caring towards animals.
I've used this kennel twice, 2015 and 2016, while I go for a run down into the canyon. My dog has stayed there overnight and gets picked up early afternoon the next day. Both times there have been no issues and everything has gone well. I will definitely use the kennel again this year.
We knew going in, that like on 99% of NPS parks, Grand Canyon didn't allow dogs on the trails. Just too destructive and disruptive to local wildlife, and that's reasonable.
Dogs are allowed everywhere except on the shuttles and below the rim. They're not exactly welcome in some of the buildings either. But there's lots of places that you can take them and it's actually a reasonably dog-friendly Park. Only use the kennels if you have to.
Dropped off our boys here for a few hours while we enjoyed the area. The amenities are simple, the kennels are small. They do not have bigger kennels for multiple dogs. Our boys shared a kennel which was fine for a couple hours. As this is the only kennel around the park, it works in a pinch. The prices are slightly highschool for what they offer.
