On top of such rude service the restraunt added 20% gratuity on my bill without even my permission.
I like Mexican food a lot and we eat it very frequently in California where we live. I ordered 3 enchiladas and it felt like frozen food that was just heated and brought in front of me.
Good sized portions and good food. I wasn't a huge fan of the interior or the green salsa that came with the burrito but I'm sure some people love those things. This spot is great if you find yourself hungry on the way out of the Grand Canyon.
There are few options in this area for a quality meal. Being so, the prices are pretty high. After a full day of hiking and sightseeing, that was fine; we were starving and the menu looked great. They have a full vegetarian menu that was perfect. Unfortunately, the service was terrible.
For 12 minutes after we were seated, we were ignored. Finally we made eye contact with one of the servers in order to at least get waters. The server was unfriendly, unhelpful and very slow as compared to other servers. She never introduced herself & the first thing we were asked was "what do you want to order?" The food was not worth the price or the wait.
I would have been better had i just gone to pizza hut on other side of road. this was the only poor experience i had at grand canyon.
This place, Sophie's Mex Rest has got to be the worst in Mexican Food....i have never encountered such a bad experience in food. Service was mediocre but the food...really bad, cold, hard, and overcooked. It looks like it was food from previous day. I wonder if the owner actually knows about their quality of food there. Over priced and under delivered. Never again...!!! Some customers even walked out!! Buyer's beware!!!!!!
We loved the atmosphere and the food. We stopped here on a week long vacation to Bryce Canyon, Zion, and the Grand Canyon. This by far was my favorite restaurant. Prices were in line with what we expected in a tourist town and the portions were a good size. The margaritas were strong too. The only reason we are not giving this 5 stars is because they refuse to split checks, have a no substitution policy, and have a $2.50 plate sharing charge. We were traveling with two families and every other restaurant we stopped at split checks, allowed sharing with no extra charge, and allowed us to make substitutions on our plates.
My wife ordered veggie bowl which was okay. When my wife asked what cheese do they use, the answer was "normal cheese", she again asked what type is it? Is it mozzarella, provolone... answer came "normal cheese". I had to persuade the waiter to go and check with chef.
